Twitter has an asymmetrical structure; If the account is public, it is not necessary for a user to authorize us to read what they publish – as happens on Facebook – but they are not obliged to follow us either. Therefore, there is a very visible dimension of popularity on Twitter: when a user follows fewer people than those who follow him. It is possible to have a private account, where messages are not public and are only read by those we authorize. But a minority opts for this variant, and the vast majority of Twitter accounts are public. And, in any case, to create a community with certain privacy measures you can always turn to Facebook.
